Adobe Creative Suite

The complete professional toolkit for creative work.

What it is

Adobe Creative Suite (now Creative Cloud) is the collection of professional creative software that has been the industry standard for designers, photographers, and motion artists for over 30 years. The core applications each handle a distinct discipline: Photoshop for image editing, Illustrator for vector graphics, InDesign for page layout, After Effects for motion graphics, XD and Premiere for video.

The applications are designed to work together. A Photoshop file can be embedded in an Illustrator layout. An Illustrator file can be imported into After Effects as a live vector layer. An InDesign layout can include Photoshop images that update automatically when the source file changes. That integration means assets created in one application carry through the whole production pipeline without re-exporting at every stage.

How I use it

Across different types of projects, different applications take the lead. A brand identity project is primarily Illustrator. A website with photography is Photoshop for image work and Figma for layout. A project including video or animated content brings After Effects in. Print collateral alongside digital work means InDesign for the print side.

Having the full suite available means the right tool is used for each task rather than forcing one application to do things it wasn't built for.

Why this over the alternatives

Adobe has competitors in every individual category - Affinity Photo vs Photoshop, Sketch vs XD, DaVinci Resolve vs Premiere. But no single competitor covers the full range, and the integration between Adobe applications is genuinely useful when a project spans multiple media. The subscription cost is real, but for professional creative work, the tools justify it.
