The Cathedral still stops you even after you've walked past it a hundred times. The medieval walls still stand. The Westgate Towers are the largest surviving medieval gateway in England and most people walk through them without looking up. Having spent years living and studying here, I have a particular affection for the city. It shaped how I think about design, and it's directly why I ended up building websites for a living.

Three universities (CCCU, the University of Kent up on the hill, and UCA) bring a constant influx of students and a young, creative energy that most Kent towns simply don't have. That footfall is an opportunity. Canterbury businesses serving tourists, students, and residents are dealing with customers who search online first and compare options before they commit. A slow, dated, or hard-to-find website is a real commercial problem here.
